The Career of Dr. Conrad Hughes - Global Education Leader
Dr. Conrad Hughes' career reflects teaching and leadership experience. He began his career as an English lecturer at the University of Montpellier III in France. Conrad Hughes, PhD, then taught English at Collège du Pic St Loup, Lycée Jean Monnet, and Lycée Jacques Brel in France.
In 1999, Dr. Hughes moved to the United World College of India to teach English and mentor students in the IB Diploma Program. He then joined the International School of Hilversum in Netherlands, where he supervised the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program and taught English in both the Middle Years Program and Diploma Program, along with theory of knowledge. In 2005, he assumed his current role as an English, philosophy, and theory of knowledge teacher at the International School of Geneva (Ecolint) in Switzerland.
Dr. Hughes's leadership skills are evident in his roles at Ecolint. He launched the IB Diploma Program at Campus des Nations and served as director of education at the Foundation of Ecolint, where he created a formal partnership with UNESCO. He also held principal roles at various campuses at Ecolint. As director general, he acted as CEO of the entire foundation, overseeing seven schools. He will become Head of school at the International School of Los Angeles, as of October 2025.
As an education leader, Dr. Conrad Hughes's recent focus has been on artificial intelligence in education and rethinking assessment to make it more inclusive. He has also advanced leadership development through workshops with Toddle and articles in The International Educator.
